IT IS NOT THE COLOUR: IT IS THE CULTURE

Dedicated to Tyler Perry

For many years I have seen Tyler Perry as one black American who would surprise his world. From his ingenuity of the ‘Madea’ character to his concentrated efforts towards contributing to the American Arts, this is obvious.

One thing that was obvious in the experience of Tyler is his rejection from mainstream Hollywood because of his Faith-Based Arts and his integration of Afro-values in telling his stories. One then wonders why in the midst of a white-prevalent society, a black man has built the largest studio in America.

I think it is no longer about the colour, it is about the culture of a dreamer:

The culture of concentrating on where you are going…

The culture of replying haters with visible results…

The culture of not allowing the social media followership become the biggest measure of one’s success…

The culture of not using the social media as a weapon of war but as an opportunity to connect…

The culture of totally avoiding distractions no matter how small or big…

The culture of ignoring vultures who prey on young visions…

The culture of saying YES when others say NO…

The culture of saying NO when others say YES…

The culture of defining all relationships and understanding why you are into them…

The culture of not priding oneself as a local champion and feeling one has arrived amon g his own locals…

The culture of never thinking one’s Nation is so bad that a good thing can’t come from it…

The culture of helping others to grow and mentoring others till they succeed…

The culture of not envying the success of others and truly believing one will also succeed…

The culture of not doing things like others because that’s what is in vogue…

The culture of knowing your assets and liabilities and concentrating on your assets…

The culture of knowing your strengths and weaknesses and never getting bad when you are judged on your weaknesses because you know everyone has weaknesses.

The culture of not getting continuously bitter about offences that will stop one from accessing greater planets…

The culture of believing in God for all things and never disbelieving in what one can do…

The culture of sticking to one’s own style no matter who is condemning you…

The culture of an understanding that most haters on same field with you, hate you because they envy you and it’s absolutely normal…

The culture of believing one is yet to get there until one has got there…

The culture of character , because character helps connections…

The culture of imbibing the right culture…

These are many more are things I have seen in the man Tyler Perry.

Congratulations to a role model, Tyler Perry and I believe God is not over with you yet. In our Film School, THE CITY OF TALENTS ACADEMY, we will introduce three courses, INTRODUCTION TO TYLER PERRY, TYLER PERRY 1 and TYLER PERRY 2,  from November. We need to start studying some people.

For those thinking colour or country is a limit, it is not about the colour, it is about CULTURE.
